VACATIONS

Tourist Attractions:

-Dome of the Rock: The jewel in the Temple Mount crown is the gold-plated Dome of the Rock, the enduring symbol of the city and undoubtedly one of the most photographed buildings in the world.

-Church of the holy sepulchre: Christendom's most important church huddles amidst souqs on the edge of the Christian and Muslim Quarters. Be aware that the church can be hard to locate - the easiest access is via Christian Quarter Rd.

-Baha’i Gardens: Best way to see these world famous gardens are to take a 45-minute Upper Terrace Tour (check the website for monthly schedule). It’s first come, first serve, so get there 30-minutes ahead. Both men and women have to wear clothing that covers the shoulders (a shawl is OK) and the knees.

-En Avdat National Park: En Avdat is a freak of nature in an otherwise bone-dry desert - a freshwater spring that miraculously flows via a waterfall into a narrow and winding ravine with steep sides of soft white chalk. Unfortunately, swimming in the ravine and its pools is prohibited.

-Citadel (Tower of David): First home to Herod of the Great and was remodeled by the Mamluks and Ottomans and is now home to the impressive Museum of Jerusalem. As Jerusalem changed leaders so did the Citadel. The visit is highly recommended and there is lots to read and see there. There are audio guides at no charge on the website and at the garden courtyard there is a cafe and from the high ramparts you can enjoy good views of the city.
